You were now staring at your best friend's television. Words you couldn't comprehend, you were just spacing out.
Until you heard the last word that spurred out.
"(Name)," you heard your friend call from the kitchen. "Dinner is ready!" You left the television on as you ran into the kitchen, shuffling into your seat.
"Damn, Luddy! You're a good cook." You took a spoonful of food into your mouth as you sigh in relief.
Food was such a blessing. You cough as you slightly choked on your food. You felt the German looking at you, shaking your head.
"Told you to eat slowly!" You felt his hand brush upon your back, stroking it. "What were you watching?" You coughed again to stable yourself.
"You left the television on, and it was in some foreign language that I don't understand." You waited to think about the times when Ludwig's older brother, Gilbert visited and the time when they spoke in their native tongue. "Wasn't it in German?" You watch him nod as he took a seat on the chair placed across from you.
"It was," he answered. "It was just about the geography of Germany and its history."
"They said something about... Dutch-land," You watch Ludwig's face pale as the words came out of your mouth. "What is it...? Your face is paling! Are you sick?"
"It's... not Dutch-land, (Name)..." He facepalmed. "It's Deutschland."
You sighed and started to laugh. "I-I'm sorry, Luddy. It's your hometown, and I feel pretty shameful at that." You watch him shake his head.
"It's alright." You heard him mumble another something as you just continue to stare at him, giving him a closer look.
Gah. He was your best friend, though he was a bit dense when it came to women.
Not that it mattered.
And you remember when he would always ask you to pretend to be his girlfriend when he was bothered by girls, even in high school. You agreed to everything he said.
Of course he was popular even then and now. Who wouldn't want that hot, sexy blond haired German - really.
"(Name)?" You saw him look away as you hum, motioning for him to continue. "I-"
You giggled as you reached for your phone that just went off with a familiar Italian's voice, whom was also your friend - but Ludwig's worst nightmare.
"Ciao (Name)~ It's Feli! I want to let you know that I'm going to make pasta tomorrow! Want to come over? It's going to be great! Oh and make sure to tell him! ; )"
He knew about your crush on the German, and that you were always with him.
You didn't bother to text back. He knew you would be there anyways.
"(Name)," the German's stern voice brought you to his attention. "I...I...Ich... Ah, forget it. I can't do it."
"What's the matter, Luddy?" You watch him look away, perhaps embarrassed.
"I like this girl, and I can't tell her I like her."
You felt your heart sank at his words. You should be feeling happy that he finally found a girl for him, right?
But it was too hard.
"Just be natural! Try your native tongue. Grab her hands," you grabbed his hands to show him. "And look her in the eyes. And then just tell her you love her."
"How do you know when you love someone, (Name)?" Ludwig suddenly questioned.
"For me?" You watch him nod slightly like a confused little boy. "Well. For me, it'll be looking into someone's eyes. If I find myself in their eyes, I know that they're my true one. And if I find that I'm truly happy with them and can act as carefree as I wish when I'm around them, then that's it." He only nodded as you parted your hands with his.
It felt all too quick.
He grabbed your wrist as his hand topple yours, grabbing hold of you - almost too gentle and too loving.
You look into his blue eyes, with him returning the glance.
You swore it was over the 8.2 seconds limit that a man needed to fall in love with a woman.*
"Ich liebe dich, (Name)."
Don't need a translator to know what that means.
"I love you too, Luddy."
You watch him close in as he only kisses you.
"Say Germany for me one more time?" Ludwig request after he pulled away, in need of oxygen.
"Dutch-land?" You asked as he facepalmed. "I'm kidding, baby." You saw his blue eyes look up into your own. "Deutschland." He only cups your chin and leans in for another kiss.
"You deserved that, liebe."
You melted at that word coming out of his mouth.
"Say 'liebe' for me one more time?" You joked.
"As many times as you want, liebe." Ludwig only gave you a smile before leaning into your ear.
