Literature Text

8:46am.

That morning, you were on your way to the World Trade Center to meet with several business customers. You pouted at the thought of the customers, they wouldn't sign the contracts until you redo it with a more proper and specific idea.

You sigh. The door slid open on its own accord. You pressed the elevator button up as you tapped your foot, waiting for the elevator.

You walked in the elevator as you hear another man shout. "Wait!" His hand came in between the elevator doors. You hurriedly pressed the button to open the elevator doors in panic.

"God! I thought I was going to die!" The dirty blonde haired man said loudly as he laughed obnoxiously.

You smiled back in return. "Well I'm glad you're okay."

"I'm Alfred! Alfred Jones! You?"

"(Name). (Full Name). Nice to meet you, Alfred." You reached out your hand as the elevator opened and began to shook rapidly. It twisted and turned until you fell onto Alfred's arms.

"We got to run!" You heard Alfred's voice faintly say. Alfred grabbed your hands and pulled you to the stairs. The eighth floor wasn't that bad, but you couldn't keep up with his speed. Alfred picked you up and raced down the stairs. Rushing out in time, you watch the whole building collapse from afar.

Tears streamed down as Alfred was standing beside you.

"Oh my God..."

"You're right..." You replied unknowingly.

Polices, firefighters all rushed to the scene right away. The firefighters immediately hurried into the tower, retrieving what was left.

Sirens were passing by endlessly.

You grabbed onto Alfred as you cried on his jacket, leaning on his chest sobbing.

Today was definitely a day you would never forget in your life.

Never.

Three day after the scene, they had appointed someone to come to the office to sign the contracts.

A sudden knock came at your door.

"Come in please." The door opened to a tall well-dressed man. Your eyes met his blue. "Alfred!" Your excitement sprout.

"(Name)! It's great to see you here!"

"So you were the Mr. Jones that was supposed to sign the contracts." He hummed in agreement.

"That's right."

"Well, here you go." You slide the paper to his view as he signed the paper effortlessly. "Great! Thank you. You're free to go, Mr. Jones."

"Come on, (Name). Call me Alfred!" You smiled. "So... Would you care to join me for lunch?"

"Well, sure. I wouldn't mind." You grabbed your purse, walking out the door with Alfred.

Alfred grasp your hands in his as he continue to look forward, as if nothing happened. When you both stepped out the elevator hand in hand, Alfred leaned down to whisper to your ear.

"I've loved you since we met. I know we met through a life and death situation, but I can tell I want you more than anything else." Alfred pause for a brief moment. "And I never want to lose you. Ever. Again."

You only smiled at him before he leaned down to kiss you with you wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him down deeper to your lips.

"Get a room!" Your coworker shouted to you as you separated from Alfred, laughing.

"God, I love you." Alfred picked you up, swirling you around.

- Extended Ending. -

It has been 11 years since the disaster struck America. And it has been 11 years since you've been going out with Alfred. He's the same as ever.

Alfred was sitting on the sofa with his head on your lap watching the television, and eating some candies at the same time.

"Please stand up for a moment of silence for those who passed away in their heroic act on this special day of our history..." Alfred shot up, pulling you with him. He lowered his head, being absolutely quiet until the television spoke again.

"Thank you..." Alfred didn't pay anymore attention.

"Well maybe it's time..." You heard him mumble.

"What's the matter, Al?"

"Oh!" He cleared his throat as he knelt down on one knee.

"Al..." You faintly said his name.

"I love you more than anything in this world. After that incident 11 years ago, I learned to cherish those around me. It was fate we met again through that contract, and we haven't been separated since. I don't want to lose my chance, nor you. Marry me. No isn't an option." Alfred slid the ring onto your finger as he got up, smiling at you with his genuine blue eyes.

"I wasn't going to say no, you know that... Right?"

"I know," he smiled. "But I had to make sure! That's just what a hero does."

"You will always be my hero, Al. Because you were. If it wasn't for you, I would have been dead. I would never have the chance to spend the rest of my life with you in this world."

"Stop getting me all sad now! We still have wedding plans to do!" With that, he picked you up and swirled you around the living room.

"Don't break my vases!"

"Can I break you?"

"I'm sure you will have the chance." Alfred only laughed obnoxiously and ran to the kitchen, only to come back with a carton of large ice cream.

Here's the start of life with Alfred Jones.
This is a fluff, true. But it's also a tribute to those who gave their lives to save others in this situation. I remember vividly I was only five years old when it happened. I was watching it from television from Hong Kong, where I was born. I had my relatives in New York City where it occurred. My parents and myself were scared to death since we don't really know what happened over there. I was the first one in my home to catch the news as I run out to notify my parents. We called our relatives, trying to find out what happened. The line connected. Then was disrupted. It wasn't until few days later the disaster did we get in contact again. Even today in announcement of school did the amazing speech come. It was touching, as if it just happened; fresh and new. No one wants this kind of disaster to happen ever again.

I later found out that several people put their life on the line to save other people who might have died if they got out any later than they were rescued. I truly think those as heroes.

And to our firefighters, who risked everything to save the civilians. Respect is all to you.

And those who survived and in steps to recovery, have faith and hope in the future. More holds for you to discover.

That's all I have to say. I know maybe some people don't really read it, but it's all I have to say.

Last is: the moral of this story.

Cherish those around you, for you don't know when they could be taken away. Thank you.

You (c) America. :)
America (c) Himaruya-sensei.
Plot (c) Me.

I was five years old when that happened. I didn't know anything about it when I stumbled on the internet just randomly searching videos back then. Again this is very wonderful and I hope it will never ever happen again. This story has just gotten a favorite Natsuki Shinomiya (Sparkle eyes) [V2]
